25 Things about Kaylie and Parker

Parker and I before his bath... so sweet!

Yesterday, we had our (weekly) family trip to the mall... we love to get out with the kids, but there are only so many places you go in the winter! So, we have made a little tradition of going to the mall on Friday's to get out of the house! (once the kids are a little older they will love playing in the play area!!) Other then that nothing is really going on around here... just been hanging out at the house! Oh yeah, yesterday Kaylie did a "half roll"... I give her a week or two and she will be rolling over:)

There has been this thing called "25 random things" going around on facebook where you write 25 things about yourself... so I decided to write 25 random things about Kaylie and Parker up to this point:)

1. They absolutely LOVE their swings! (They're sleeping in them now!)
2. Parker loves to nap on his mommy's chest
3. Kaylie ALWAYS makes noises, especially these fake coughs and then spits all in your face! ha
4.They hate tummy time:)
5. Kaylie loves to stare at her brother when they are on their play mat
6. They both love to be outside... I cant wait for Spring!
7. They love their grandmas... Mimi and Grammy Sha Sha!
8. I wish they could meet their grandpas
9. Parker smiles ALL the time (well when he isn't being fussy!)
10. Kaylie smiles all the time UNTIL I bring the camera out. Then she looks at me cross-eyed!ha
11. They are eating between 4 and 6 oz every 3 to 4 hours!
12. Kaylie's legs are so chunky now that Cody can't get his hand around them!
13. They love to be naked (with diapers on!)
14. Parker almost always pees (and hits me) when I give him a bath.
15. They would both stay in the bath all day if I let them
16. They are already getting to long for their infant car seats
17. Kaylie loves to kick her legs up and hit the toys that hang from the play mat.
18. Parker is the most photogenic baby ever! He's such a flirt!
19. Kaylie is going to have her daddy wrapped around her finger...haha! I cant wait
20. And I'm sure I will let Parker get away with murder;)
21. I can't wait until they are 6 months old to start taking them to Little Gym!
22. They both go to sleep between 7 and 7:30pm and sleep all night until 6:30am... sometimes they wake up once, but go right back to sleep!
23. The best time with them is early in the morning... they are so happy when they get up!
24. I rock each of them every night just so I can have some one-on-one time with them:)
25. They are seriously the light of my life and I don't know what I would do without them!!!

I am sure I could write 25,000 things about them, but you would be bored by the time I got to 1,000! Well, I have to run to Wal-Mart while everyone is asleep... Have a great superbowl weekend! Go cardinals... I love rooting for the underdogs:)

ICED in....

My sweet big guy after his bath!

Sister trying out her bumbo!

Brotherly, Sisterly lovin!

So, today is the second day we have been "iced in!" Needless to say, we have been trying to think of things to keep us occupied.... First we tried sister in her Bumbo seat to see if she could do it/ liked it! Then we came up with the bright idea to see how much Kaylie and Parker weigh... I got on the scale (not telling the outcome!! haha), then got on the scale with each of them and took the difference to figure it out! (We are such Geniuses!!) I know its not exact but if gives us a good idea... Kaylie weighed about 16 and 1/2 lbs and Parker was a little over 15 lbs! Getting soooo BIG!! Oh yeah, then after we weighed them, Mimi went to Wal-Mart to get stuff to make dinner and seh came back with banana puree for the kiddos! They actually liked them:) And once they learn how to use a spoon they will like them much better!! (Me and my experiments...haha!)

While I write this Parker is taking a nap in his crib (we are still trying to get them to take naps their cribs for longer periods of time...and not just in the swing!;)) and Kaylie is sitting in her bouncy seat staring at the fire in the fire place! She can't keep her eyes off of it! (we'll see how long it lasts!)

Well, I better go get some things done around here while there is some peace and quiet! The laundry is piling up:) Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Mimi and chunka monka napping!

Me and my boys:)

What a weekend!! Let's just say that I had a way too much wine Saturday night;) We went out to celebrate Cody's brithday (actually birthday today) with about 25 people...Thank God for Mimi because there is no way we could have watched the kids Sunday without her!! As you can tell in the pictures... all we did on Sunday was lay around and recover!! haha... Tonight Mimi came over again so Cody and I could go out to a nice dinner together for his bday!

As for Kaylie and Parker... they are doing GREAT! We go to the Dr. in 2 weeks for their 4 month check up! I am sooo anxious to see how much they have grown... I mean seriously I think Kaylie weighs about 15 lbs! She is such a chunka monka... Brother is getting so big too... he is a lot leaner then she is so I am anxious to see their weight difference! He is my sweet angel boy... Both of them just smile and laugh all the time now!

Well, I gotta get back to The Bachelor.. please don't ask me why I still like this show (i mean they never stay together!!) haha.. GOOD NIGHT!

New View...

Yesterday I realized that Kaylie and Parker were probably getting bored with the same ole view of the ceiling... so I sat both of them upright on the couch! They LOVED it... their view of the world has changed (ok, well maybe not the world, but at least their view of the living room...haha!) Of course, whenever the camera comes out Kaylie looks at me like I'm crazy (with no camera she is all smiles) and Parker (my little ham) smiles as a wide as he can!
So, let's see whats been going on? Really not too much... the past 3 days the weather has been incredible, so we've been on walks and stayed outside as much as possible... but then of course today its in the 40's!! They are loving the outdoors...I can't wait until spring:)
Last night I got to babysit the 3 boys I used to nanny before I had Kaylie and Parker. I can't believe how grown up they have gotten... Ashton is in 1st grade, Braeden goes to preschool now and Carter is 9 months old...I had a blast hanging with them:) Since I was babysitting it meant that Cody had Parker and Kaylie and the nighttime duties by himself! Kaylie does a good job of going to sleep at night... My sweet little Parker on the other hand.. only wants his momma! He stayed up 2 hours past his bed time because he was trying to fight letting him daddy put him to sleep! SUCH a momma's boy already!
Well, tonight Mimi is coming to watch the babies... Cody turns 29 on Monday and we are celebrating tonight! Parker and I are about to head out to find daddy a bday gift...ENJOY!

Discoveries...

So, as of the past few days Parker and Kaylie have been making a few new discoveries... Parker started playing with his hands and will hold them in the air and just stare at them:) Kaylie has discovered that she has feet.... she will curl her legs up to where she can see her feet and look at them! So cute... They are both starting to hit and kick the toys that hang from their play mat... They realized they could do it and havent stopped since! I love that they are really starting to recoginize their surrounds and notice toys! Sometimes I feel like they get bored and I wish we have more things for them to play with...I really just cant wait for them to be able to sit up and play with toys and interact with each other! That will be soooo cool to see:)

As I sit here and write this right now, we have a calmness in the house that is rare:) Kaylie is playing on the play mat happy as a bug in a rug and Parker is asleep (I think... I should probably turn on the monitor..haha) in his crib! My goal is to get them on a set nap schedule during the day, but its alot easier said then done. They are napping good during the day and sleeping great during the night so i cant complain too much, but I can't wait til they will sleep for 2 hours at the same time, so I can have time to nap, read a book, clean, etc..haha! But on the other hand, I love being able to have individual time with each of them while the other sleeps! Ok well, now i am rambling and of course as soon as i said there was a calmness... guesswhat?? Parker is awake! haha... gotta love it:)

Lazy Weekend...

Sis in her basketball outfit... she looks like a sumo wrestler! haha... she really isn't THAT big!!

Kaylie knocked out on her mat!

Cody and I at the Mavs game last night!

Brother was sooooo tired!!

The double decker nap!
This weekend has been pretty laid back and lazy! Let me explain the pics attached above:
#1. Kaylie (Future Baller) looks like a sumo wrestler in her Nike warm up suit! I was playing dress up with her today and teaching her good shooting form:) haha (not really!)
#2. Kaylie passed out on her mat... They got new mats with little pillows and they LOVE them!! They have never just fallen asleep in the middle of the floor until now! It doesn't last long, but its so adorable!
#3. Thanks to Cody's cousin, we got to go the Mavs game last night... sat 6 rows from the floor at mid court, got to park under the arena, and got floor passes to take pics with players! It was sooooo awesome! Meredith and Allen came over and babysat our angels for us!
#4. Before this picture was taken I was snuggled up with him for about an hour... he just laid there and looked at me! He is the BIGGEST momma's boy:) I just love it!
#5. So Kaylie had fallen asleep in my arms and at the same time Parker was crying, so I had Cody give him to me and I laid Kaylie down on the arm rest... being the momma's boy that Parker is, he fell right asleep in my arms! So needless to say, they slept like that for an hour!! HAHA... oh what I will do get them to nap during the day;) Of course, I can't really complain about their sleep habits because they are sleeping through the night! (for the most part!)
Today, Kaylie has pretty much eaten an entire can of formula herself... seriously every 2 hours she has eaten anywhere between 4 and 6oz! BIG GIRL! I am thinking I am going to start her on rice cereal soon! I tested it out (3 bites) yesterday and she ate it really well... I just wanted to experiment!:)
Well, I guess that's about all for now... good night!

Play Time

My big man looking up at his mobile!

Daddy and his little angel!

Brother and Sister on their new play mats!

Kaylie's first day in her exauscer!

Parker's first day in his exauscer!
So, today we got some "new" toys out of the attic... Both Kaylie and Parker are really starting to hold their heads up really well so I decided its time to get them some new activities to do:) I put them in their exauscers and they did great! They only lasted about 10 minutes... we will try again tomorrow!
As I sit here typing this blog I have "Dateline" on the TV playing in the background talking about the "Miracle on the Hudson"...what an incredible story of heroism by the pilot of that plane! I just can't imagine what was going on in the minds of all the people aboard that flight?!? It is a true testiment that miracles really do happen...
Well, I don't have much else to write because I am completely exhausted... time to go count sheep....Atleast until the first baby wakes up;)!

"Dream" Feeding

Sister in her boppy!

Brother in his boppy!

In attempts to get Parker to sleep longer at night I tried "dream" feeding them last night! According to one of my many books its says to get a few extra hours of sleep a night you should feed them right before you go to bed, but without waking them up! Sounds weird I know, but it WORKS!! They go to bed between 7:30 and 8p because I know one day they will sleep a consist 12 hours at night and its nice for Cody and I to have the evening to spend "kid-less" with eachother! Anyways, back to my "dream" feeding experiment... so I fed them in their sleep at about 10 last night and Parker ended up sleeping for 6 hours straight!! Much better than the 3 to 4 hours he was doing! They both woke up at 4am to eat, but the good news is they eat and go right back to bed until 7am:) So needless, to say I will be "dream" feeding them from now on until they get a little older and can sleep through the whole night! Its more for Parker then Kaylie, but I figure if I am doing one I might as well go ahead and do two!!

Also, last night I think it was the first time that Kaylie and Parker really realized each other... I know "they" say that twins know about each other when they are in the womb, but last night they really started looking at each other! I had them laying on the mat and they were just staring at each other for the longest time! Sooooo cute... now I cant wait until they can start to play with each other:)

ENJOY!

Work with Mommy

Some of you may be wondering..." Work with mommy?!? I didn't know you had a job!" Well thanks to the help of my former employer, Benita, I now have a part time job doing what I love... nannying!!I started last Tuesday and I work 3:30 -7p M-TH... It is absolutely the most perfect job for me! Dylan is 13 and such a sweetie... Once homework is done we usually play the Wii (which by the way, is a serious workout!! haha) I love my job for a few reasons: #1. I get to keep my sanity by getting out of the house for a few hours a day, #2. It gives me a little extra money every month to spend on things we (Cody, Kaylie, parker and I) want and not just stuff we need, #3. I truly have been blessed to be working for such a wonderful family!

Yesterday I brought Kaylie and Parker with me to work! It was a little chaotic at first because both of them were so tired and just wanted to go to sleep, but without a swing or a crib its not easy for them to go down! So needless to say, cody came by after he got off work and picked up Kaylie, and Parker stayed and had some mommy time!

Well, its 7:45a and I have already been up for an hour with the kiddos! Now they are napping so I better go get a nap while I can!

A laid-back Sunday...

Mr. Smiley and Sis playing on their mat!

Well, not too much excitement here today! Mimi stayed last night to watch the kids while Cody and I went to watch the NFL playoff game at a sportsbar! Its hard to have a good time when (in the back of your mind) you know that you have to get up the next day and take care of two babies...haha:)

Today we just hung out at the house and cooked an early dinner...nothing much, but it was so nice to just be at home with Cody and the kids (and Buddy) just hanging out! Kaylie and Parker are loving their play mat these days... they just look up at it and smile! Its so cute watching them smile all the time now:) I know I write this all the time, but its insane how fast they are growing and developing! I want them to stay like little peanuts forever...
Well, kids are asleep so back to watching the Golden Globes... more updates tomorrow!

HAPPY 3 MONTH BIRTHDAY!!!

Like father like son!

WOW... time flies when your having fun (minus the middle of the night feedings!!) I cant believe it has been 3 months today that we brought these beautiful babies into the world! What an incredible blessing it has been... from the first poopy diaper to their big smiles today! I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings:)

By the time we made it home from the mall yesterday I was so exhausted I couldn't keep my eyes open (hence why I didn't write yesterday).. anyways, we went to the mall to get Cody a new "business casual" wardrobe! Now anyone who has twins knows that if you go anywhere with twins you get stopped every 5 steps you take for people to admire them! Flattering and kind of annoying all at the same time! So we ate lunch in the food court and just as we were finishing up these to "older" ladies sat next to our table and starting googooing and gaagaaing over the babies... well, we got to talking and come to find out they were 72 year old twin sisters! Pretty amazing to see how close they were after all those years!

Today was a pretty uneventful 3 month birthday! I did manage to actually get them dressed into something other then pajamas:) I wanted to get them out for some fresh air, but of course with this Dallas weather you never know when it will be 80 and when it will be 30... and unfortunately today it was 38!! I had to go do some returns today, so Cody was on daddy duty this morning:) He does such an amazing job by himself with the kids... which is good because its nice to be able to get out of the house for an hour or two to get some things done without having to bring the kids with me!

Well, Mimi is babysitting tonight so we can go have a night out together... I think we are just going to Coach Joe's to watch a football game and listen to an 80's cover band! Should be fun!

New sleeping record set!!

Momma and Kaylie napping at Momo's
Kaylie offically has the title of "Best Sleeper"! Last night she set a Dick Household record... I put her down at 7:45p and she didnt make a sound until 6:15a... WAHOOO! I think we are finally getting somewhere:) Parker on the other hand... we got some work to do!! Anyways, today we actually got to get out of the house and go on a walk! (The weather has been so unpredictable... ice on monday and sunny, 75 degrees today(PERFECT!) Besides the swing in our living room, walks are Kaylie and Parker's favorite thing in the world... They could be screaming their heads off and all I have to do is get them out in the fresh air and its like a switch flips! I'm sure I look pretty hilarious pushing the stroller with one hand and holding Buddy's (my dog) leash with the other... and I cant walk more then 10 steps without Buddy stopping to pee on everyone's mailbox! Needless to say, these walks don't count as exercise, they're are basically just to be out of the house to keep the kiddos happy:) Because if the kids are happy, everyone's happy!
So, I have been doing inventory on formula and diapers... as of right now we are going through one can of formula every 2 days (about 4 cans a week!!!) and between 16 and 20 diapers a day! It's insane how fast the formula goes... I feel like I open one can then 2 hours later I am opening another... good news though...We got a letter from Similac yesterday that said "congrats on your twins. We will be mailing you a shipment of our product" WAHOO! Nothing better than free formula!! Our pedi told us they should be sending us a case... Its pretty sad that free formula really excites me... hahaha!
Well, I better go pay more attention to the National Championship game since its tied 14-14 and in the 4th quarter! Until tomorrow... good night!

Night time schedule down... I think!!!

Ok so I think I finally have the kids on their night time schedule (still working on the daytime fed/wake/sleep schedule!!) But I figure that getting them to sleep at night is more important then their day time schedule at this point... I am putting them down around 7:30/ 8p and Kaylie will usually sleep to 3 or 4a and Parker will sleep til about 2... good thing is I feed them and they go right back to bed until about 6 or 7a!! I sure hate to jinx myself, but i never thought the "every 3 hour" routine at night would end!:)

Hmmm... what else do I have for today?? ohhhh... I am proud to say that I have FINALLY unpacked from Christmas break and organized Kaylie and Parker's room! It has been a complete disaster since the day we brought them home and today I finally got motivated/had both of them asleep at the same time to get it done:)

So I guess that is about all of the kiddo excitement here today!

Finally learned how to create a blog...haha!

Their first "big kid" stroller ride!!

Ok, so its been 3 months since Kaylie and Parker were born and I just figured out how to do this whole blogging thing!! So pathetic i know...haha! I figured that since I have been sending email updates every so often that I would instead create a blog (if i can actually keep up with it and write every day!) I'm sure I will still send out my email updates also because I feel like they a little more personal then a blog:) Anyways, so on to the good stuff... THE TWINS!!

The first 3 months with twins have been such an adventure... a crazy, scary, blessed adventure!!! Its hard to believe that 3 months have come and gone so fast. It amazes me how fast they are growing... They have so many cute outfits they never got to wear....#1 because they grew to fast and #2 because we don't get out much! :) They are really starting to get their own personalities... Kaylie= LOVES attention! (go figure) and Parker= LOVES his mommas voice! (already a mommas boy!) I could sing the most horrible song in the most horrendous tone and both of them will just look at me and smile... haha... I love it!

It's almost 10 and momma needs some shut eye, so I will update tomorrow! ENJOY!
PS: I have no idea how to make a cute header for the blog, so please disregard it!! hahaha
